Art Wine Mikulov, s.r.o. is a family winery that combines wine with art. Mark Rutherford takes care of the vineyards and produces wine from old vineyards. Kateřina Rutherford is a painter who leads painting courses in Pálava in plein air. 

The story of Kateřina and Marek is behind the establishment of the Art Wine Mikulov company in 2018. 

 Kateřina is a painter and has been studying color for more than 20 years, she passes on this experience with conscious color vision in her courses not only in the studio, but right in the middle of Pálava in plein air.

 Pálava, interwoven with vineyards, has become a great painting theme for her.

Mark, her husband, bought 40 years old vineyards, which he takes care of and makes authentic wines from. Vine growing  and wine makking was his big dream, which he fulfills in Pálava,  in  the vineyards Pod Sv. kopečkem, in Hlohovec (Šulaperk wine route) and Valtice (Hájky wine route).

And this beautiful connection between art and wine takes place in painting courses right in middle of Pálava, in the vineyard. During this plein air painting classes can students taste how wonderfull wines are form this wine. 

Earth here is full of limestone, which is very benefitial for growing vines.
